Managing Director
Adept at advising clients from all kinds of industries in strategy, planning, goal setting and implementing business structures, Matthew founded Sorted Accounting in 2003 and his infectious enthusiasm has helped him build a company of talented staff.
Matthew holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Otago University and a Graduate Diploma in Accounting from Waikato University, plus is a member of the Accountants and Tax Agents Institute of New Zealand.
From Christchurch originally, Matthew discovered Wanaka while he was studying at Otago. After graduation he worked in Wanaka’s tourism industry for four years, then moved to Tokyo, Japan to teach English in secondary schools. Returning to NZ after six years, he joined a Hamilton accounting practice while completing his postgraduate studies at Waikato University. Once qualified, the pull of Wanaka was irresistible and the rest is history!
A proud husband to Cath, and dad to their two daughters, Matthew is also a keen sailor, mountain biker and skier. He has been the treasurer of Bike Wanaka since 2007, and the Wanaka Yacht Club since 2009. He also spent seven years as a trustee and treasurer of Te Kakano Aotearoa Trust.
Accountant
Our clients benefit from Claire’s hands-on regional business knowledge having spent much of her life and working career in Central Otago.
Since graduating with a B.Com from Otago, Claire has worked in Central Otago accountancy firms, Ward Wilson now Crowe Horwath (Queenstown); McIntyre Flannery Tait (Alexandra).
A valued team member of Sorted Accounting since 2008, Claire is married to Eddie, has three children and simply loves to get out running whenever she can.
Accountant
With a wealth of international corporate accounting experience in FTSE Index companies like BAE Systems, Thomas Cook and BOC Gases, Simon relishes the challenge of setting up structures and procedures for smaller businesses.
A member of Chartered Accountants, Australia & New Zealand, Simon holds a Bachelor of Management Studies (Hons) from The University of Waikato majoring in Accountancy and Management Systems.
Upon completing his studies, Simon spent three years in the Business Advisory Services team of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Auckland before moving to London “for a few years” to pursue a career in a larger city. A few years turned into a decade!
In 2013 Simon, with his ski instructor wife Kath, decided Wanaka was the perfect place to spend winters; then after bouncing around between Canada, England and Wanaka, settled in Wanaka for good in 2016.
Simon is originally from Whangarei. He enjoys golf and armchair rugby (a tough gig when you support Northland RFU). Being an outdoor enthusiast and keen snowboarder, he is very happy with the decision to leave behind the noise and pace of London for the lifestyle Wanaka has to offer.
Office Administrator
With a focus on customer satisfaction and background in event management, Shilpa is the welcoming voice when you call and keeps our office running with maximum efficiency.
Shilpa was born in India, grew up in Germany and has now settled in Wanaka! Having joined the Sorted Accounting team in 2014 as a part time Administrator whilst studying at Open Polytechnic, she obtained her Diploma of Accounting in 2015 and is now our Office Adminstrator/Junior Accountant. Shilpa’s studies continue as she is now working towards a B. Com.
Loving Wanaka’s wonderful community and the outdoor lifestyle, Shilpa is passionate about protecting our environment and is a member of Wanaka Wastebusters.
